Privacy policy
Last updated: 5 May 2026
This policy explains what information Scopemate collects when you use the service, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. We've tried to write it in plain English. If anything is unclear, please email us at admin@scopemate.com.au and we'll do our best to clarify.
1. Who we are
Scopemate is run by Antonio Escamilla, a sole trader based in Perth, Western Australia (ABN 30 350 870 446). When this policy says "we", "us", or "Scopemate", that's who we mean.
Our website is https://www.scopemate.com.au. You can contact us about anything in this policy at admin@scopemate.com.au.
2. What this policy covers
This policy covers personal information we handle when you sign up for Scopemate, when you use the app to document your home, and when you visit our website. It does not cover websites or services run by other companies that we link to.
3. What we collect
Account information
- Your email address. Used to sign you in and to contact you about the service.
- A hashed version of your password. Your password is hashed by our authentication provider (Supabase) before it reaches our database. We never see and cannot recover your original password.
Content you create in Scopemate
- Project names you choose.
- Floor plans you upload (as PDF or image files).
- Photos you attach to pins.
- Pin details: titles, room labels, tags (such as Plumbing or Electrical), defect or note status, resolved or unresolved status, and timestamps for when items were created or updated.
This content belongs to you. We hold it so we can show it back to you. We do not read your projects, share them with anyone, or use them to train any AI models.
Anonymous usage analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count things like page views, button clicks, sign-ins, and which features get used. These events are not linked to your name or email — we only see aggregate patterns (for example, "200 people created a pin today"). We do not use any advertising cookies and we do not sell or share analytics data.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting provider (Vercel) keeps standard server logs of every request. These include your IP address, the time of the request, the page or file requested, and the type of browser you used. We use them to investigate errors and abuse.
What we don't collect
We don't ask for your real name, your phone number, your home address, your location, or any payment information. (Your floor plans may contain an address — that's up to you. We treat that content as your private project data.)
4. Why we collect each kind of data
- Account data — to identify you, sign you in, and let you back into your projects.
- Your project content — so we can store it and show it back to you. That's the whole product.
- Anonymous analytics — to understand which parts of Scopemate get used, so we know what to improve.
- Server logs — to keep the service running, debug errors, and identify abuse.
5. Who has access to your data
Antonio (the operator) has access to the database that stores your account and project content. We only look at individual project data when you ask us to — for example, if you report a bug we can't reproduce.
We use a small number of third-party providers to run the service. They store data on our behalf but don't use it for their own purposes:
- Supabase — runs the database, file storage, and sign-in system that holds your account and project content. Stored in Supabase's Sydney region.
- Vercel — hosts the website and app. Sees IP addresses and request logs but does not see your project content.
- Google Analytics 4 — receives anonymous usage events. Operated by Google in the United States.
- GoDaddy — handles DNS for the scopemate.com.au domain. Does not see your account or project data.
We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with marketing partners or advertisers. We may disclose information if we're legally required to (for example, by a valid court order or notice from a regulator). We may also disclose information where it's necessary to protect our rights or the rights of others, or to investigate suspected fraud or abuse of the service.
6. Where your data is stored
Your account, projects, floor plans, and photos are stored in Supabase's Sydney, Australia region. Anonymous analytics events are sent to Google Analytics, which processes data in the United States.
7. How long we keep data
We keep your account and project content for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete your projects, pins, photos, and floor plans.
Server logs and analytics data are kept according to the standard retention settings of our service providers (typically a few months to two years). After that, they're deleted on their normal cycle — we don't have a separate copy.
Some information may stay in routine backups for up to 30 days after deletion. Backups are not actively accessible and are overwritten on a rolling cycle.
8. Your rights — Australia
If you're in Australia, you have rights under the Australian Privacy Principles, including:
- Access — ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to fix information that's wrong or out of date.
- Deletion — delete your account at any time, or email us to ask for deletion.
- Complaints — if you think we've mishandled your information, please tell us first so we can try to fix it. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
9. Your rights — EU and EEA
If you're in the European Union or the European Economic Area, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you these rights over your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of your data.
- Rectification — ask us to correct data that is wrong.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Portability — ask for your data in a portable format that you can take to another service.
- Objection — object to specific kinds of processing.
- Lodging a complaint — complain to your local data protection supervisory authority if you believe we've broken the rules.
Our legal basis for processing your data is the contract you enter into when you sign up (so we can provide the service), and our legitimate interest in keeping the service running and free of abuse.
10. How to exercise your rights
You can sign out at any time from inside the app. You can delete your account at any time, which removes your projects, pins, floor plans, and photos.
For data exports, corrections, or any other request listed above, email admin@scopemate.com.au from the address on your Scopemate account. We'll get back to you within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.
11. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies set by Google Analytics 4 to count visits and interactions. We also use a first-party session cookie set by our authentication provider (Supabase) to keep you signed in between visits. We don't use advertising cookies and we don't run third-party trackers beyond GA4. Your browser's settings let you block or clear cookies if you prefer.
12. Children's privacy
Scopemate is built for adults documenting their own homes. It is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has signed up, please email us and we'll delete the account.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Scopemate changes. If we make a meaningful change to how we handle your data, we'll let you know by email or with an in-app notice before the change takes effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always shows the most recent version.
14. How to contact us
Questions, requests, or complaints about this policy or your data should go to admin@scopemate.com.au. We're a small operation and we'll respond personally.
